About Us

Our delightful gnomes are handcrafted from soft and luxurious fabrics with charming and unique characteristics.

Sandra, owner of Gnomeville Studios, putting the finishing touches on a gnome.

I create because it brings me joy. I continue to make because it brings joy to others!

It all began with the love of creating and the courage to say Yes!

I made my first gnome in an effort to brighten up my space at a far too corporate desk job. After seeing the smiles it brought to my coworkers and, with a little or a lot of persuasion, I now have the confidence to offer a whole world of whimsical characters to everyone else.

These bearded little gnomes will add magic and whimsy to your home.

Known to bring good luck to their companions, these magical protectors are handcrafted with passion, bringing joy to all those who believe in their mystical powers.

Cheerful and colourful gnomes can be used as home decor, add personality to your office and workspace... or even as a soft travel companion on your next adventure!

Owning a gnome isn't just about having a whimsical decoration:

It’s an open invitation to embark on endless adventures. These small, mischievous figurines have a magical way of infusing your life with unexpected excitement.

They may seem stationary, but in the realm of imagination, they are each a guardian of a special area of your hobbies and dreams. Adore the extraordinary adventure!

The Creative Process - It's a journey.

For me, it starts long before I even pick up a piece of fabric. It’s all about bringing a character to life- an adventurer, a curious detective, or a gentle guardian. I see them in my mind’s eye, with their unique personality and story to tell.

The process of creating a gnome is a true labour of love- It’s all about trial and error, refinement and tweaking until I get it just right! I’ll experiment with different hat styles, fabrics, and colors until l land on the perfect combination. Sometimes, it’s a new style hat that sparks the entire character, while other times it's the fabric that dictates the gnome’s whole aesthetic.

That’s why custom gnomes aren’t my thing. For me, creating a gnome is about capturing a specific essence, a certain je ne sais quoi that can’t be rushed or forced. It’s not just about slapping a label on a hat or stitching together some fabric. It’s about bringing a fully realized character to life. It takes time, patience, and a deep understanding of the gnome’s personality and spirit. When it all comes together, it’s pure magic!

Everyone should experience the joy of adopting a gnome!

There’s something special about bringing one of these little wonders into your life, and I know how much happiness they can get. However, gifting gnomes adds up, and I want to make sure everyone can share the joy!

That’s why I strive to create a range of gnomes that are affordable for collectors and gift-givers alike. My baby gnomes were born out of this idea, tiny, adorable, and budget-friendly; they’re perfect for surprising friends and family who love these little creatures. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or just starting your gnome family, I hope my creations bring a smile to your face and a touch of magic to your life!

Why do I create gnomes in so many different sizes?

For me, it’s partly about being resourceful and reducing waste. I hate seeing beautiful fabric scraps go to waste, and I find it challenging just to set them aside. Cluttering my workspace with tiny bits of fabric isn’t my style either.

So, once a year, I go through the piles and try to use every scrap I can, which often leads to creating gnomes in various sizes. However, some hat styles don’t lend themselves to being miniaturized. Take Nautical Ned or Curtis the Moose, for example; their hats are an integral part of their charm, and scaling them down wouldn’t do them justice. The same goes for those sporty baseball caps; they need a larger gnome body to pull off the look.

In an ideal world, I’d love for all my gnomes to be uniform in size, but it’s just not practical. Each gnome has its unique personality and style, and sometimes that means they need to be a little bigger or smaller to shine. Most importantly, I would love to keep my fingers intact.

What motivates me?

As a gnome maker, I’m driven by a passion for creating whimsical, unique and imaginative friends that bring joy to people’s lives.

My small business is rooted in four core values:

Creativity: I pour my heart into crafting each gnome, experimenting with new designs and techniques to bring my visions to life.

Quality: I’m committed to using high-quality materials and attention to detail to ensure each gnome is a treasured companion.

Individuality: Every gnome is a one-of-a-kind creation, reflecting the personality and character that I envision for each one.

Connection: I love seeing the smiles on people’s faces when they find their perfect gnome match, and the connections I make with customers who share my passion drive me.

Driven by the knowledge that my gnomes can bring a touch of magic and personality to someone’s space, and that they’re not just decorative items, but little friends that can spark imagination and joy.
